Rapunzel Retell.

This morning we worked in five groups to retell the events from the u tube clip we watched called Rapunzel.
We used the thinking hats to think about how our learning went.
  • Yellow hat: Joshua liked seeing the clip.  Anneliese's group worked in unity.  Erika liked sharing ideas with others.
  • Black hat: Our group didn't listen to each other and all wanted to talk at the same time.  I heard a lot of arguing. Ella.  We could have thought of better words to put in our sentences.  Dominic.
  • Green hat:   Make a table group s we don't have to move around. Gabi. Split our writing book into a storyboard and write the series of events on our own. Zavier. Use the storyboard for an animation.Jack. We could do a donnut.Mekaela.

Class Learning Goals

This week we decided to brainstorm six goals that would help improve our listening and learning.  These are the ones we voted to focus on;
  1. get ready for learning
  2. don't talk when the teacher is talking
  3. show respect to adults in the class
  4. don't distract others from their learning
  5. don't be distracted by others
  6. look for ways to help other students in class time
Our next step is to link these to the key competencies and our SUPER Gospel values.

How has Maori culture helped form our kiwi culture?

WAL how Maori culture has helped form our kiwi culture?
During tuning in, we watched a clip of the haka on you tube.
Next we organised our thoughts about the haka using a graphic organiser called Think Boxes.

See it:
  • We drew an image of the haka
Feel it:
  • It makes me feel excited because it makes me want to watch the game and do the haka too.  Alyssa
  • It makes me feel prickly.  Jordan
  • It makes me shout with excitement.  Elizabeth
Ask it:
  • Why can’t girls do the haka? Arahi, Ella, Katie, Joshua.
  • Who invented the haka? Mat, Thomas, Gabi, Lucas
  • Where would be the most suitable place to do a haka and why?Zavier
  • Why was the haka invented?
  • What do the actions mean in the haka? Jack, Joshua
  • Are there any other types of haka? Jacob, Fletcher
Show it:
  • We drew symbols like the koru, kiwi, silver fern, rugby ball, rugby world cup trophy, All Blacks top.
