Yesterday Arahi had a wow moment when he discovered onomatopoeia in his guided reading book Owls in the Garden. It was, "whoo, whoo," and "Tu-whit, tu-whoo."
Elizabeth conencted this to her writing and made up these sentences using onomatopoeia:
"Tu whit ti whoo," the tui chirped. The monster went, "chomp, chomp, chomp."
"Slurp, slurp, slurp," said the pig while eating.
'Sh sh sh shhhh," said Mum
My gumboots went squish, squish.
The rain maker shook, SSSS SSSSSS
"Ioow! " I said when I stepped in cow poo.
